It's Spring Break
Beautiful weather for much of the day. To the airport bright and early to collect friends from the US. The Ryanair flight from London to Perugia was almost completely full and for the first time in ages the arrival terminal was echoing to the sound of American accents - it's Spring Break time . There was a pronounced absence of American visitors here in 2007 and 2008 due to the weak dollar versus the Euro, but this year things have reversed somewhat and the greenback is once again allowing travel abroad. I still don't think there will be enough foreign visitors this year to meet the expectations of the local restaurant and hotel owners - but we shall see.The boyz are adjusting slowly to the house filling up with fresh faces. Will post tomorrow. Did notice that Ryanair has all sorts of supplemental charges for desk check-in and luggage that make me wonder if it is cheap an option as it is made out to be. Will cost BA v Ryanair to Rome for out next visitors.
2004 - We sell the farm in Scotland and move to the warmth of southern Europe. 2 lively Polish Lowland Sheepdogs - Wilf and Digby - our patient and comical companions. After a year in Provence we head to Italy to restore a hilltop Roman watchtower . Following an unpleasant 'housejacking' in late 2009 we set off for new adventures in South West Franceto get to grips with a large and exceedingly rickety old farmhouse. Empty nesters life after the violence of Italy has a gentler tempo. Digby passed on from piroplasmosis in May 2010. HIs brother, despite being diagnosed with cancer and having become blind ,soldiered on for another two years. Bob and Sophie joined us in 2013. Bob passed on in 2019. Sophie enjoyed the fresh air in Scotland after we returned in late 2022 but ran ahead in the summer of 23. This blog records all those little things about living with dogs that are too unimportant to make it into a diary but which make life, life.
